Lack of communication or updates.Told that I could move holiday dates upto twice but the system stopped working with excuse that you are all busy but offers nothing by way of contacting you unless it is 3 weeks until my holiday.Rubbish service and I’d have appreciated that given this once in a lifetime pandemic that as I couldn’t travel on my chosen dates that you would allow cancellation and full refund, you are just money grabbing in times of difficulty, shame on you

How absurd to ask for a review after just booked a holiday by pressing a couple of buttons. Utter ridiculous, talk about fishing for compliments. Must be desperate.

So easy to book,have used Sykes several times before always a great service.

First time using Sykes Cottage and it was really easy to make the booking. The confirmation email was clear and told me all the relevant facts.

We found looking for and choosing a place to stay was very good and the details of the accommodation were good.I was rather annoyed to find that, although it said we only had to pay the deposit, we had to pay the full amount up front - there was actually no choice in the matter when we were taken to complete the booking. That feels a bit like false advertising unfortunately.

Very poor customer service. If you have issues you cant get through on the phone and email is all automated replies. So many people having issues including the owners of cottages.

Beware, I have used Syles before and will be very careful about using them again as I felt conned on this occasion! After searching over a couple of days for a suitable cottage we made our decision over dinner. Came back and logged in to book and the price had been hiked by £32!! I can only assume that their system monitors searches and picked up on our numerous visits to the property due to our indecision and hiked the price to cash in?

I had a computer problem booking online so I booked by telephone. This went smoothly with an efficient and friendly operative. However, I noticed the price was £6 more than online and when I queried this I was told that it costs more to book by telephone. I was shocked by this as it is not made clear in advance.

Efficient service and well informed about booking status and practicalities. Only deducting one star as couldn’t reach anyone by phone.


Worst company I have ever had to deal with. Only way to get a refund for our cancelled holiday was via a chargeback from my bank. Awful customer service. Be aware many other cottage companies come under the Sykes umbrella. Never again will I deal with this horrible company.

Knew what I wanted but could not find it. I was looking for a Friday arrival but the property was a Saturday arrival.
